Jade @ Scatterbooker
It's about time I did a new introduction post, so here's a little bit about me. I am a scatterbooker, which means I read books from far and wide. I like most genres and will give almost everything a go. I write historical fiction. I'm currently working on a book called Bridgewater Bay and have almost finished the first draft. It's a dual timeline set in Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula, and a couple of other places in country Victoria in the 1930s and 1990s. I like writing about things like family, identity, class, mental health, and the reasons why people do the things they do. All my writing comes from an intersectional feminist perspective. I have a Bachelor of Arts (Internet Communications) and a Master of Writing). I have 3 rescue cats who love to boss me around called Zeus, Ziggy, and Lucky. I live on the Mornington Peninsula and love it. The city is far away but I need to be near the beach. I do wish I could make it to more book events though but most of them are so far away and I am a bit of a hermit! I've had many struggles with my mental health. I don't talk about it a lot but I'm always willing to lend an empathetic ear to anybody who needs one. I have type 2 diabetes and fatty liver disease which makes life difficult sometimes. I wound up in the ICU last year and will never take my health for granted again. I take Ozempic for my diabetes and it also helps my fatty liver. I've also managed to stop a medication that made me sluggish , completely changed my diet, and exercise almost every day now. I'm feeling healthier than I have for years, my blood glucose is much more steady, and I am losing weight. I love to meet more readers and writers. Say hello and let me know what you love to read and write đ»
